I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!!!!
The story I am about to tell you is true. I know there is a God because I have had several things in my life that were miracles and I am going to tell you about one of them now, and I will share others with you later.
When Eddo was about fourteen years old his dad and I were Youth Pastors at a small church in the town we live in. Anyway, Eddo had this friend named Greg that lived down the street from us. He and Eddo used to hang out all the time, they rode horses together, they fished, watched movies, rode bicycles, he went to church with us, they did everything together. However at school it was different.
Greg didn't want anything to do with anyone at school if they were known to be Christian. So Eddo didn't exist nor did any of the other kids Greg knew that attended church. Gregg didn't excel in anything, he was short, had a big mouth and tried to walk around like he had his muscles flexed all the time. He wanted to be with the in crowd, but was never quite accepted.
So the story goes, it was Sunday, the sun was shining, the temperature was in the nineties, we were leaving church with about twelve kids from the youth group. We were all going to the lake to swim and have a picnic. Greg was with us that day and he had a new pair of glasses he was showing off to everyone. His mother had just bought them for him the day before.
Anyway, upon arriving at the lake, we got out of our vehicles and at that time, they had just put the lake in. There were paved roads that were now covered with water and lots of weeds. We arrive at the lake near this farm house of a friend we know and we park our car by this barbed wire fence. As we look ahead you can see the lake and the paved road that is leading into it that is now covered in water.
The boys all jumped the barbed wire fence, took off running and jumped into the water. They swam out as far as they could, then began to jump off each other's shoulders. They had been playing for about two hours, when Greg comes running back up the road to where myself and some of the teenage girls were sitting in the water. We were all about neck deep and I was just listening to them chatter about boys and whatever was on their mind.
About two hours passed and I see Greg running back up the road where I am sitting and I notice he is crying. I asked him what was wrong. He began to explain to me that the glasses he was wearing which his mother had paid about three hundred dollars for were gone, he said I can't go home because she will kill me for losing them.
I then asked him what he meant by his glasses were gone. He said he had not taken them off when he got to the lake and they had been diving and he had lost them somewhere in the lake. I asked when and where. He had no idea, he just knew he no longer had them in his possession.
Well, needless to say, I am a person that believes God can do anything. I used to always say if there is a God, then He can do anything and if He can't He is just like me, so I am not going to believe in Him. In other words, I let anyone know who didn't have faith or belief that the God can do the impossible that not only can He do the impossible, but he can do exceedingly more than we could ever imagine, he is not limited like we are.
I knew if there was a God and he is our creator then He is definately concerned about us. So I told Greg not to worry, that we would pray because God knew exactly where his glasses were and He loved us so much that He would help us find those glasses. At that time, my husband didn't have the faith I had and He gave me the ...here she goes again look, because I pray about everything. He then proceeded to tell me there was no way we were going to find those glasses in that muddy lake, he informed me the boys had been diving off of each others shoulders and we had been there over two hours and what I was saying was totally impossible. Well, I let him know that God is God and He can do anything and He would bring those glasses to me, that He loves us and cares for us and He was the only one who knew where those glasses were.
I then asked all of the girls and my husband to gather around, we called the boys up from where they were and we all held hands. I told them we were going to hold God to His word and claim the scripture that says .... If any two of you agree on earth as touching anything it will be done.
So I prayed and basically just said, God there is no way we will ever find Greg's glasses in this muddy lake if you don't bring them to us, we know you love us and you care about even the sparrows that fall to the ground, we also know you love Greg and care that he has lost his glasses so we are trusting you to help us find them. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen
Then I instructed the kids to go back to where they were and to start feeling around on the ground with their their feet and hands and to believe God would answer our prayer and bring the glasses to us.
About ten or fifteen minutes passed and I was feeling alongside the road, all over the pavement, when all of a sudden I felt a weed tickle my leg. I get creeped out easily, so I kind of wanted to brush it away, but I felt as if something was telling me to raise my leg up. I was sitting about neck deep in the water, so I raised my leg up and there were Greg's glasses on my leg. I grabbed them, jumped up and screamed. I was amazed!! and shocked all at the same time. I knew God would hear and answer, it's just that when it happened it was overwhelming!!
All of the kids started running where I was, Gregg grabbed me and started crying. I told Greg I felt the reason God had brought his glasses to us was to show him how much He loved him and that he was never serious about God, and it was time He gave some careful thought about Him and made some decisions in his life. With that, we all decided to head home.
SO TELL ME DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES???
