OPPOSSUM IN THE HOUSE

Saturday, May 28, 2005

Tonight at work, we got this call for animal control ....the complainant stated he had an oppossum in the house. He said it was in the Dining room and everytime he got close to it, the thing would scurry off. What did he expect, it to come running into his open arms. haha Even I wouldn't try to get close to one of those things, they hiss at you and let you know they got teeth!

One of the dispatchers asked, how did it get in there. I just couldn't resist...I said, it knocked on the door and he said come in. lol!!

Sometimes people ask the craziest questions, maybe she thought it was chasing him and he couldn't run fast enough and it ran in the house with him when he was trying to get away. Or perhaps he brought it in for a pet and then decided he didn't want it. Better yet, maybe he was going to have Oppossum for dinner since it was in the dining room, but it wasn't going for it. Maybe it was tired of living outside and wanted to come in and watch some tv, relax and enjoy the finer things in life. Who knows? He just said he got home and it was there waiting and watching him when came in the door.

I have never had to worry about an Oppossum in the house, so I wish him the best of luck getting it out of there, I can visual animal control and the complainant trying to corner it now. lol!

What about you, ever had an oppossum in your house???

Beedy-eyed little rodent that hisses and then plays dead when you corner it? Nope. Don't allow lawyers in the house.

We don't have many possums in Ontario. In fact, I've never even seen one outside!

We had a mangy wild cat get into our house recently (through the cat door). I chased it out with a broom. In the process it ripped two window screens and broke a lamp. My fear is that a possum or coon is going to come through that cat door one day!

Ha that's funny. No possum in my house. But when I worked at an insurance company, I had a complaint about a possum that got in a house after a hurricane.

Once there was a opossum outside our apartment door. We heard noises and peeked out the door and there it was. It was scared and climbed up a chair that was out there. We had some old food that we tossed at it and I had fun watching it eat. :)

I've never had an opossum in my house...thank goodness. Ugly mean creatures. Wicked mean when cornered.

Edgy Mama, you need one of those doors that only open with the collars..lol..that way only the cats can get in.
