What Are You Dreaming About?

Wednesday, May 11, 2005

Confuscious, the Chinese Philospher is quoted as saying...."I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand." It is in the doing that we finally appreciate and understand.

I used to daydream about doing this or doing that, but never got past the daydreaming. I would let my creative genius take off, I had all these ideas about what I would like to do, I could imagine it, I could feel it, I knew it could work, I could see all the possibilities, but still I was stuck in today land, never seeming to get to the doing. I had the seeing, hearing, remembering, dreaming part of it down, I knew the sayings....some people want things to happen, some people watch what happens, some people make things happen and some people wonder what happened. I was the watcher, I sat back and watched people around me making it happen and I used to think, I could do that.

It wasn't until this year that I truly decided to become a doer. Something happened in my life that opened my eyes to the fact that our life can be changed in an instant. It was then that I decided to start making things happen.

So long story short, my husband and I decided to stick our neck out and try something new. I have always wanted to invest in property, I have seen people do it and it worked for them, so we bought a piece of property, put a mobile home on it, sold it and made in thirty days what I make in a year. I had all kinds of people around me telling me it was a bad investment, that I wouldn't make any money, but I kept a positive attitude and held onto my dream.

My question to you now is What are you dreaming about? What can you do to change your circumstances? Do you have a dream that you could make into a reality? Can it happen? Not unless you do something about it! If you can dream it you can do, I believe that.

As a teacher, I have always loved that quote. It is so true.

I'm glad your investment worked out. My dream was to write books and have them published. It wasn't easy, but I did it.

I had a big year last year as well. I turned 40 and decided that, even though I'd been writing for years and had a published novel, I could answer the question, "What do you do?" with "I'm a writer."

Congratulations on the property investment. The thought of it is scary to me as well. So glad it was a positive experience for you.

I'm glad to hear that you took that risk, stayed positive, and succeeded! I'm a dreamer and a watcher. I hope that I can make my dreams happen.
I hope in the future gives you lots of success!

wow - what an encouraging post! it makes me want to go out, buy a piece of property, and sell it.

i'm being serious.

roger and i have dreams. dreams that hinge on paying off our debt. we're on a budget, putting my entire salary toward getting out. we'll be out in 1/8 of the time it takes most people to get out of debt (considering our debt bracket).

and THEN, we'll bring those dreams into fruition. :)

First of all, I love your blog design. It's very cheery looking and easy on the eye.

I am a firm believer in real estate. It has always been very profitable for me.

We do hold the ability to make our dreams come true once we are open to do so. It always amazed me how people give their power away to other people to control them and form their life.

after my fifth time being turned down for a promotion at work (because they found someone else "more qualified") i decided to take my life back and begin working toward a place where i can make my own decisions and my own schedule.
i am now in class five nights a week to become a massage therapist. i am very excited about being able to do something that i am passionate about, make my own schedule and help and heal people in the process. soon, all this hard work will pay off and i will no longer spend my days in front of a computer in an office 8 hours a day 5 days a week. i will be able to travel, sleep in past 7am, make time for my friends, family and art . . .
so for now, i work 40 hours a week and go to school 15 hours a week. but in a year . . . all that will be different.
europe, here i come!
