The Two Greatest Commandments

Mark 12:29-31

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these."
Today I will go share with fifty two boys who are incarcerated that Jesus loves them, that He gave His life for them and I will remind them that if they don't remember anything else we tell them, to remember this one thing, there is a better way and that way is found only in Jesus Christ. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through me. His way is the only way!
Everyone's always trying to figure out what is wrong in the world, why do we have all the violence we have in the world, why the gangs, why terrorism, family violence, rape, abortion, burglary, hate, predjudice, the list goes on and on.
In this world, it's all about me, my myself and I, us four and no more, it's not about my brother, my sister. God said we are our brother's keeper. He told Cain, what have you done? Your brother's blood cries to me from ground!
The answer to the problems we have in the world lies in the heart of man. Sin has hardened our hearts and separated us from God. Evil lies in our hearts and until we have been changed the problem continues. There is no amount of money and programs that can change a man's heart, there is only one who can take the heart of stone out of us and give us a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:23-32). He gives us a new spirit and in doing so we are changed.
The hate and anger that lies in a terrorist's heart is what causes him to do what he does. The boys I minister to, do what they do, because of hate and malice in their hearts. They turn against their families, they join gangs for identities and acceptance, it's a form of brotherhood, they turn on each other too, because they feed on hatred, lies and deception. Family Violence is a lack of love flowing between a mother and child, a husband and wife, a brother and sister. When God's love does not flow between us, there is a crack in the foundation, we need God, we need Christ to save us, we need redemption! We are living under the curse, but Christ can redeem us from the curse of the law.
I am excited about going to share this morning. There is no greater miracle than the miracle of salvation, there is nothing more amazing than the miracle of a changed life! Praise the Lord, He welcomes us with open arms. Tell me blog world, Do you know my Jesus? Are you excited about His mercy, His Grace? I want to shout it from the rooftops!!

Another great post Dana.. I love it! Because of you and your glory I actually went to a service this morning (normally I do my own thing at home because I don't like Military christian services).. the service was less than to be desired for.. but I was in the presence of the lord and that's all that mattered.

I don't know if I will continue to go, or just do my own little thing here still.. but no matter what I know that he is with me in my heart!

I know that you will have planted seeds this morning. They may not grow right away, but they are planted. The Lord will provide the one to water and the one to tend and the one to reap. But, the seeds are planted.

God bless you for what you have done for Him this morning!

"In as musch asye have done it unto the least..."

Great work!

I once hear a pastor talk about how frequently he prayed for Jesus to return. Until he realized if that prayer had been answered, for someone else, prior to his being saved, he would have been lost.

thanks for your enthusiasm in Christ - may He fill you with His power and purpose, His presence and His joy as you grow increasingly in your trust and dependence upoon Him - may He bless you even right now as I write this and later when you read it with a unique touch from Him - only He satisfies us and is there anything better than being touched personally by the God of the universe Himself?

Dana,

Thank you for stopping by my blog, and I am certainly glad I stopped by yours. This is a powerful message, particularly when dealing with God's love. Our definition of love is so elementary. We just love everything. We love ice cream, we love getting drunk at parties, etc. Did you know that there were at least six different words in Greek for our one word love? And each had a distinct meaning. If we loved like Jesus loved, we would begin to see how difficult true love really is. I will keep you on my favorites list, and we can switch links as well!
