I Didn't Make the Rules!
Thursday, October 27, 2005
What happens to a society when the rules of life are ignored or mocked? I’m afraid that is what we are seeing in America today. We’re a rich and powerful country. Times have never been better in terms of money and careers. But the America I see is in a spiritual decline.
Our culture glorifies fornication and violence. Television glorifies sex outside of marriage, not to mention other perversions that parade across the TV screens. Just turn on a talk show, you see children disrespecting their parents, gangsta rappers encouraging gunplay and promiscuous sex. Almost every television series now is promoting homosexuality.
Every year I notice a frightening decline of moral and spiritual values. Americans are materialistic, they are chasing the dollar, they are giving into their passions, they are becoming more and more self centered. What about chasing after the things of God? God called King David a man after His own heart. I wonder what God calls me.
God has stated His position. It is not my position, it is God’s position. He told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel and yes people are going to be offended no matter how much love we put into it. Even those in our own families won’t want to hear the truth, but how can we love them if we are silent on the issues that God was very clear about. Was He silent?
I once heard someone say to me, God has a sense of humor. This person was trying to justify his sin. I in love stated, I think God takes sin very seriously. His son gave His life and died the most horrible death imaginable and I believe God inspired sixty six books to be written about the subject, so I would have to say God is very clear on the subject of sin. Fortunately this person told me they had never thought of it that way.
Satan is an imitator, God is a creator. Satan has a counterfeit for all the originals God has provided. He is a liar, a thief and a murderer. He is reeking havoc in America. We must call him out. It is time to stand up, it's time to act. We can make a difference, one heart at a time.
So tell me, have you ever been persecuted for taking God’s position on sin? I have and I don’t like the feeling either, but He changed my life and it took someone telling me the truth in love for me to be able to experience the freedom He has given me in this new life in Christ. So I hope I can encourage you to occupy until He comes and whatever you do, don’t be silent, He wasn’t! He paid the ultimate price for it!

Good points Dana. Thanks.
Billy Graham once offered , "If God doesn't punish American, He will have to apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah."
Isn't it ironic that we live in a country with freedom? We can say whatever we want, we can make as much money as we want, and we can do practically whatever it is we want to do. God never created us to do our will; He created us so that we can accomplish His will. Thanks for the powerful reminder.
Good Post mom! Love you!
Yes, we definitely need to take a stand on sin, even if it makes us unpopular. What I’ve found in my own experience, though, is that the sin is usually not the one we originally think of, and it goes much much deeper than what we see on the surface. I think of that boy in CA who’s accused of killing Daniel Horowitz’ wife. He obviously underwent a radical change when his sister died 2 years ago – dressing Goth, reading Satanic books, doing drugs – where were the adults in his life? If he did it, then he is a murderer. But the sin of murder took root long before this, because no one was there to set him on the right path. Your involvement with the boys camp is taking a major stand against sin because you are exposing Satan’s lies and giving them a godly role model.
Dana,
This was truly a great post and a great reminder. Thank you for sharing! We have the history of the nation of Israel at our fingertips. How they were blessed with they were fellowship with God and how they felt His wrath when they weren't. We need to learn from their mistakes!
Good post Dana.
DOing the right thing will ever be popular -- or easy. I took the time to look this up from the Beatitudes:
"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Matthew 5:10-12)
Good post Dana. What really sends me into orbit, is when someone is doing something obviously WAY wrong and they say to me..."Well God knows my heart."
Or when (people that don't even grace a church with their presence) say that they are a good person and they know God will take them to heaven. I usually tell them," Well if you can get there because you think you're good, then Jesus died on the cross for nothing!"
