Sin - An Equal Opportunity Destoyer

Friday, October 28, 2005

The bible defines sin for us, we need to read it, to know it, to memorize it. Psalm 119:11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

We have become so apathetic in America that we have come to accept sin, rather than confronting it and doing something about it. Our culture flaunts sin, we laugh about it, we tolerate it, we accept it.

Sin is lurking about in our homes, in our lives and we are allowing it. Sin doesn't pick its victims, it's an equal opportunity destroyer. Sin enters into our homes through the things we read, watch and participate in. God created us for good and not for evil. Satan is trespassing on God's property.

America is so worried about offending and being tolerant. Why aren't we worried about offending our Creator? What standard does he have for our lives? What kind of life do we want our children to lead? If we want our children to grow up to respect us and to respect our rules and the rules of society, how much more does God want us to honor Him and play by his playbook. Who else has a standard to live by? If we have no standard, we will fall.

We have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Hallelujah, thank you Jesus! I want my life to honor God. I do love Him, I do want to serve Him, I want to please Him, I want my life to reflect Him. Pray for me that I will hold to His standard and be a light to those who are still walking in darkness and an encouragement to those who have been called to walk the walk and to live it out!

I have long said we are becoming an apathetic nation, but it's spelled out in Revelation that it will happen. That's where I find my strength, watching things turn out as they are written. Like Ed says, "I've read the end of the book. We win!"

Dana,
what a great, refreshing Word to hear. This is why I keep coming back. You keep it real. :) And you are honoring God with your life by doing that.

Yes, I will pray that you continue to walk in the light in the midst of this sin-filled world. In Him is no darkness at all. You greatly encourage me. When I get worried about the adoption, and all the things the social worker has warned us could happen, I do think of your real, actual life examples. Then I remind myself to keep tight with God, keep in step with HIS plan, and everything will be okay. One focus. One eye. His smile within mine. Thanks.

Thanks Mike, I am on a soapbox this week, I just realized sometimes I get complacent and I do want to keep it real, I want to keep my eye on Him instead of the things of the world which seem to be demanding my attention day in and day out.

I live in this world but I am not of this world. I want to glorify Him in all I do!

Thanks as always for the encouragement!
