What if My Child Was Missing on Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 23, 2005

Thanksgiving sometimes becomes a very hectic time of year for me. I nearly always have to work, then I am juggling days between family and I usually don't get to go to my mother's until the weekend after, so she is depressed and feels we don't care about her. I really have to remember what the day represents and how much I have to be thankful for.

So, as I began to reflect this morning on all the things I am thankful for, I was reminded of Beth Twitty, Natalee Holloway's mom. This will be her first Thanksgiving without Natalee and she still has no closure. She doesn't know if her daughter is alive or dead, or even what happened to her, let alone all of the run around the Aruban government has given her family.

I just wanted all of you to take a moment and pray for her and her family. Pray God reveals where Natalee is and closure is given to this family. I don't know how I could keep my sanity if I couldn't find my daughter. Natalee has been missing since May 30, 2005.

My mom says the same thing and cites the problem with the government and the pity for the mom, so you and she are on the same page on this difficult situation. That is a horrible situation. What is so sad is that there are a lot of situations that are similar. A lot of broken lives and hurting people.

Yes, I will pray for the family. I know a local case where the daughter has been missing since '95 and her killer was caught and jailed about two months ago. There is still no closure because he won't reveal what he did to her. Her father was the photographer at my brother's wedding and he still talks to my mom. It's not easy.

I will pray. My heart goes out to that woman, each time I see her. Happy Thanksgiving!

One thing that Natalie's mom can be grateful for is the fact that she had her wonderful daughter for 19/20? years. Hopefully they will find out what happened to her and she will get her closure. It would be hard to lose one of your children that way....Still she did have her for 19 or 20 years. Thanks for the post.

I cannot even imagine her pain. My son is on the streets living in his car, is on probation, and has a drug addiction...which is a violation of his probation. I don't know what will happen to him but because he manipulates, I cannot talk to him. This will be the first holiday season without him and it was very hard. I try to think that others have it so worse and pray for them, but it is not easy.
