Chronicles of Narnia

Are you going to see the Chronicles of Narnia? I have met so many people lately who are so interested in seeing this film. I plan to go see it tomorrow night, so I will let you know if I like it! My children read the book in Christian school and love C.S. Lewis. Here's a small bit of info on the book and author......
Christian allusions can be found throughout the best-selling fantasy novel, which follows the adventures of four young siblings during World War II who discover a world of fauns, centaurs, unicorns and talking animals inside an armoire.
The heroic lion Aslan, a symbol of Jesus Christ, battles the White Witch, who is seen by some to represent a servant of Satan if not the devil himself. The residents of Narnia refer to a human boy as "a Son of Adam" and to a girl as "a Daughter of Eve."
An atheist in his youth, Lewis, a professor at Oxford, became an Anglican convert as he grew older. Aside from his Narnia books, he is best known for such spiritual works as "A Grief Observed," in which he reflects on God and life following the death of his wife, Joy Gresham, from cancer, and "Mere Christianity," in which he uses logical arguments to make a case for orthodox Christianity.
"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" was first published in 1950 and has remained a favorite among generations of young readers. Nearly 100 million Narnia books have been sold. "The core target audience is in the 5-12 range, but the audience for `The Chronicles of Narnia' is of all ages..

I haven't followed the books, but I can't wait to see this movie!
Sounds interesting.
I am an avid reader, but never got into the books as a kid and haven't tried yet as an adult. I don't have a very good imagination and so it didn't work for me. Same with Tolkien.
Hope you enjoy the movie!
Did you ever see Shadowlands? The movie about his life? I cried alot in that one at the end. But it's good. And the English countryside is breathtaking.
You are going to see this on opening night? My Mother? That is so funny. It IS going to be great. I loved the books, I remember walking down the halls in school in 8th grade reading them with kids passing by. I COULD.NOT.PUT.THEM.DOWN.
Love you!
My oldest is currently reading "Prince Caspin" of the series & has asked if he could have the whole series for Christmas. He has also been doing a countdown to see the movie & I do hope I'm able to take him.
Enjoy the movie & I can't wait to hear your review!
You've caught my interest about his personal life: His was initially a marriage of convenience, then it developed into deep love. His writing about his marriage and the loss of his wife initially went under a different name. More here:

I CAN'T WAIT. I am on pins and needles until I can go see it. I am Lewis' #1 fan, and cried when I was a little girl and was told he'd died before I was born. I wanted so much to tell him how important he's been to me. I guess I'll have to wait and tell him in heaven one day, instead.
In the meantime, we go tomorrow afternoon. I've already bought the XBox game for SaurKid *shhhh* and will watch him play it for hours.
To me, this is bigger than any Harry Potter or Star Wars movie ever was. Well, maybe not Star Wars... but close!
My daughter is reading the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe now and we're looking forward to seeing the movie. I don't watch too many movies (they take so much time!) but I think I'll go to this.
I have the books. I like this one best! Have a blessed time!
I'd like to see it...not sure when though. I've not read the books either but have heard good things about it.
Don't know if I'll go see this or not. Haven't decided. :-\
C.S. Lewis - I love him! "Mere Christianity" is a wonderful book, and I got the kids into "The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe" a couple of years ago. They own the animated and "real people" versions on DVD. The book's phenomenal. Let us know about the "Chronicles of Narnia" and whether you think it's appropriate for a 4-yr. old.
I heard C.S. Lewis and Tolkien were good friends and C.S.L. was the first to read the rough drafts of "The Lord of the Rings" series. Two great authors!
I remember in third grade we went on a field trip to the city to see this as a play. There was a traveling group and we were able to see it. It was great!
I think the movie will be super! The comercials make it seem like it will.
I am going to get the books and can't wait to watch the movie.
we loved reading cs lewis books and the lion, the witch and the wardrobe were my kid's favorite. I'm hoping to go see this movie tomorrow afternoon...I cant wait..I just know it's going to be spectacular.
I'm looking forward to seeing this one.
