I Thought You Were Mad At Me!
Sunday, December 04, 2005
Today I made a phone call. I was trying to go to sleep and this person was on my mind, so finally I give up and I give in. I don't always feel like I have a lot of patience anymore for this person. I love them, however, I don't understand them. The only thing I do know is God loves them and it is never too late. So I made the call, no answer. I thought, wow! guess I got out of that, but then again, Lord if you want me to talk to them, have them call me. Guess what? The phone rings.
I answer and it is this young man I just called. He said to me, "I thought you were mad at me." I said, "why would I be? I don't understand you, but I am not mad at you." I said, "I love you and I know you know that, I just don't know how to help you and I can't help you until you decide to help yourself, but I love you no matter what."
I explained, "God put you in my life and He knows why you are doing what you are doing, He knows where you are at and He is knocking on the door of your heart and saying, "let me in." I said, "do you know the only place in the bible where God ever ran is?" He replied, "no." I said it's in the story of the prodigal son. I led him thru the story, then said, "all God wants you to do is recognize where you are and where your life at this moment is taking you, then to turn and surrender to Him. He loves you and when you decide to go home to Him, He will look up, and drop what he is doing and He will run to you, He will wrap His arms around you, hold your head to His chest and tears will stream down His face as he says, My son has come home!"
I then told him I wanted to pray with him, so I said, "will you bow your head right now?" He said "I have it bowed," I began to pray for Him and I could hear him weeping. I closed the prayer and said, "will you come to church tomorrow?" He asked "what time?" I told him and he said "I will be there." So now I wait on God.
I love this kid, and it is difficult to watch someone take their own life in their own hands and destroy it with drugs and alcohol, yet I have never walked in his mocassins, I don't know what it is he is running from. He has a huge thick wall he has put up that only God can tear down. I can't climb over it, I can't chisel through it, I can't tear it down, but one thing I do know is I plan to Pray it down! So now I wait on God to do what He does best!

What a blessing it has been for me today to wake up, read my blog and your prayer for me and my family, to go over to your blog and read of your ministering to this kid. (I receive your prayer for me on my behalf. Thank you so much.) You didn't have to listen for the Lord to tell you to call that person. You didn't have to bother at all. You could have watched TV and said you were tired. It reminds me of Jesus when the disciples were tired. "Send these people away, Lord, so they can go and get something to eat. It's getting late." "You give them something to eat." Maybe you are feeding the 5000, because of all the people that are affected over time. Eternal treasures are waiting, and may God bless you with even more blessings of His Holy SPirit to fill you now. I know that you agree, that is the greatest gift, isnt it? To be filled up more with His Holy Spirit! Even while you are at church now. (It's 10:00 Texas time.)
Mom, you are always so amazing - you forgive 70X7 and then some!
And that line was perfect - " I can't climb over it, I can't chisel through it, I can't tear it down, but one thing I do know is I plan to Pray it down!"
That is awesome.
Dana...you are indeed a blessing to the people who God has led into your path.
Awesome mom! Did he come to church?
Hi Sis
It's harder on a cross to forgive , but it easier when you love them. Keep on Loving
God's So Good
Great Story
Oh, I do hope he came to church today!! I am just awed at what you do for the Lord; such a good example for us! God bless you so much!
Sometimes we need to just "let go and let God". In those situations I just pray for God will in the person's life.
It's not our places to hold judgement, or grudges. We are instructed to love everyone equally and leave the hard stuff to him. I am glad that you were able to convey that and pray with him.
Just keep on loving him and praying. He will be drawn in the Lords time. I truly believe it is the unconditional love we show that the Lord works through. It's the one thing that nurtures the seed of Christ in every heart.
Amen! I had a wall just like that, and you're right - only God could tear it down. I know He will tear down this boy's wall, too. And I have no doubt that you will be very instrumental in it!
All in His perfect timing, isn't it. :)
Hang in there and don't be discouraged if you don't see any immediate results. It may take years, if at all, and it's all in God's hands and in his timing.
It reminds me of the tale of the person who witnesses repeatedly to, and prays for, a young man for many years.
Eventually, the young man becomes a born-again Christian through someone else.
The person who initially had done all the ground work resented it heartily. "God, WHY would you let someone else lead this kid to you?" he asks, angrily.
And then God tells him that although he did the sowing, another did the reaping. One wasn't more important than the other, but each had his particular job to do.
So, don't get discouraged.
Don't get discouraged if you don't live to see it. If God intends to call him, he will.
There's a story about a young man (let's call him Hank) and his mentor (let's call him Bill).
Bill prayed and prayed for Hank, witnessing to him over the years. It never seemed to sink in.
Then one day Hank knocked on Bill's door to tell him the good news: he'd been saved!
But instead of rejoicing, Bill got angry and asked God "Why did you allow someone else to lead Hank to you, Lord? After all the work I've done for you!"
And God told Bill "You sowed, and the other man reaped. Neither of you is more important than the other, but without each other your efforts would be useless."
Fancy...the only place in the Bible where God ran! I like that... that's a very powerful bit. Thanks.
I'll be praying for this guy.
Dana, you are so awesome! I'm so glad that you recognize the gift God gave you and are willing to use it!
I hope God Blesses everything you do!
This is so DYNOMITE! My heart was stirred. Thank you for your willingnes to witness!
Oooh, weird. Sorry about the double post. I had initially 'lost' it (Thank You, Blogger) and so retyped the whole darned thing.
Keep encouraging him, keep telling him that God loves him. He needs to hear it over and over again. His heart has to believe it or he will never come around. Sometimes it's hard to understand why these kids do what they do, but we can't give up on them. They need us. You will get blessing if you do the Lords work.
Dana,
What an awesome story. Yes, God does answer those petitions that are according to His will! Just remember, whether he attends church or not, you are the Christ that he sees! Keep being a blessing!
Ordinary,
I remember reading the story of the 5000 and how it wasn't until they reached out to share the loaves and fishes that it was multiplied. When we give, God multiplies. Thank you for your continual prayers!
Eddo,
I love ya, hope to see you this next Monday, what do you think about taking off a half day?
Leann,
You are a blessing to me. I love to read about what is going on in Alaska, I will probably never get to go there, but I can enjoy it thru your blog! Thanks!
Lava,
Yes he came to church!
Forgiven,
You are so right and Love is not a feeling or an emotion. We can only love if we have Christ in our hearts, because love never thinks of self, it is selfless and when we minister to others, we definately have to die to self!
Shelly,
yes he came to church!!!
Mike,
You are right, that is all we can do, is let go and let God. I used to do alot for this young man, but now I just love him where he is, I give him space and God room to work!
Msthang,
You are so right, but that is sometimes so hard to do, I mean sometimes I think to myself something like, You Dummy what are you doing, but then I think, I bet God looks at me and thinks the same thing. lol!
Mountain Mama,
You are right, it is the unconditional love that draws them, the word says, It's your kindness that brings us to repentance, o Lord!
Jennifer,
I guess some walls are thicker than others. I do remember having a wall myself.
FTS,
Yes it is all in his timing, but sometimes I sure want to hurry Him along!
Sauerkraut,
Thanks I do need encouragement, sometimes I wonder if I am doing anything at all or just spinning my wheels, then I remember God said to go and tell, the rest is up to Him.
Keasty,
I love to think about how God ran to me, that He loved me that much!
Bonnie,
Thanks! I do hope God does use something in my life to bless someone else, I want to impact the world for Jesus but I sometimes wonder if I am all that effective!, but again it is not about me, it is about HIM!
Joe,
I love to serve, I love to feel God's presence in my life, I long to be used by HIM>
Lucy,
Thanks for the encouragement, I needed that, you really made a great point and perked my conscience there!
Ron,
Wow that was something to think about, I never really thought about it quite like that, I remember a song once that said, Who will be Jesus to them?
Great testimony
