Who Is Kyle?

Saturday, December 03, 2005

I haven't said much about Kyle in my posts, so today I am going to tell you a little about this young man who moved in with us four months ago.

Kyle is about 5 ft. 9 in tall, weighs about 165 lbs, has blond hair and blue eyes. He's sort of quiet but at times that is not so. I have known him since he was a small child probably around six or seven years old. He has lived quite a ways from us so we haven't seen much of him.

His story is much like the other boys in the Inner City Ministry we serve in. He got in trouble for Drug Possession. He was picked up. The judge was going to send him to prison. He's been in and out of trouble since he was about ten years old. He called his father whom he had never lived with and he stepped in and vouched for him, so Kyle went to live with him. The judge gave him four years probation, community service, he has to pay restitution, attend intensive drug counseling classes. He has completed two years of his four year probation.

Kyle shared with me this week that he had a manipulative personality and it was never his fault. He was living under bridges for a year, he's lost his car, his apartment, his job and knew he was either going to die of a drug overdose or go to prison when he got caught. He was alone and scared, but knew he had to change. He went to live with his father when his sister sent him a book called "the Purpose Driven Life." As he read the book, he came across the sinner's prayer and prayed to accept Christ. That was one year and two months ago. He started coming to our house to attend Bible Study on Wednesday nights the week he accepted Christ.

I have seen him grow in Christ and take care of responsiblity. He said the day he accepted Christ he no longer had a desire to drink or do drugs again and he has never called any of his old friends since that day. God has given him a desire to start a ministry with Joseph and the two of them are holding a Bible Study on Thursday nights at the Ranch where we minister. Joseph was incarcerated there for two years and both boys want to give back. All I can say is Praise God and Thank You Jesus. He does performs miracles!

I am so blessed by how God is using you, your family and those boys and how He is weaving Himself into your lives. I earnestly deisre that He is chosing specific boys to come into our lives that are ready to be used by Him. May He do a great work, and may He make a great name for Himself, may He manifest Himself amongst your family/ministry and amongst ours as well. Oh, that He might live and move and have His being though us all, comfortably living His life amongst us, for He is the head of the church, His body! And I pray that He would protest us, but that we wouldn't fear, because no one can stop God's will or purposes. He will fulfill His purpose in all our lives. Let us just stand under His provision and will, safe in His care. As Jesus prayed, not that we are removed from this world, but are protected from the evil one. Thank you for your blessing to my blogsite. God's attributes are great. I am happy that He blessed you. Smile.

Yes he does. I've seen it. Sadly, it's rare. But it does happen, and when it does it's breathtakingly beautiful.

Oh Boy!! I can't even think of a word that would express the joy I feel when I read a story like this. I just feel like I am going to bubble all over the place like a shook up soda!
Yahoooo!
He picks us up from the mire, dusts us off and breathes new life into our soul and we become a new creature for his glory.
We serve an gloriously awesome God!

You are to be congratulated for your faithfulness and constancy, your servants heart and most of all your obvious love for the Master.

Ralph,
It is amazing! God amazes me all the time, I have learned I can change no one, I can only love them, the rest of up to the one who created us!

Ron,
He is a miracle worker, thank goodness, because I only work in the natural and without Him can do nothing on my own.

Ordinary,
You are a blessing, thanks so much for your prayers.

Joe,
Great things happen when God is allowed to work in someone's life. Thanks for your insight, I truly love your site.

Sauerkraut,
I agree it is on rare occasions we see the end result, but thankfully we know He is working even though we may not see it.

Mountain,
LOL! I never heard anyone describe themselves like a shook up soda before!

FTS,
We serve an awesome God!!!

I wish some of these kids didn't have to hit bottom before they realize that something has to change. I wish more of them would find the Lord a little earlier in their lives....

My son still hasn't accepted responsibility for some of the things he does. Is it harder for boys? My girls are doing great.

Joseph was telling me a little bit about Kyle the other night. It was so good to see Joseph too. Everyone was wondering if he was going to come. Great to see him again and hear him laugh!
