SHOW ME THE MONEY!!
Thursday, January 19, 2006
Most people I know are seeking the dollar. It's all about how much money they are going to make, how big a house they are going to buy, what big neighborhood they are planning to live in, what is the newest and latest fashion, are they gonna have a blackberry or a Treo, plasma TVs, MP3's and SUVs.
However God doesn't look to our outward appearance. All of these things are going to pass away. Instead of "SHOW ME THE MONEY!," we should be saying, "SHOW ME THE MISSION!" I don't think there is anything wrong with having things, but do things have us, is it our primary focus?
Everyday I look around me and see people who are lost and have no clue. They pass me on the street, I see them in their yards, at work, at the games, in the prisons, they are everywhere.
God please "Show Me the Mission!" The harvest fields are white and the workers are few. What are you doing to share Christ? Do you know someone who is hurting who needs to hear there is a better way? The greatest miracle of all is the miracle of a changed life. I once was lost, but now I am found, was blind, but now I see.

Yeah Dana, we're supposed to be out there looking for "damaged lives" that Jesus can heal. There are a few pretty close to me. I pray daily... God has put some folk on my heart and that's where they'll stay till they make that step.
Bless you. 12 days to go.
Hey, you're back! I hope you're feeling better.
I agree, it's our blessing when we can help others.
I love it Dana! Phrase for the day ~ "Show me the Mission!" Gives new meaning to this - "Your Mission, should you choose to accept it, is....." Hey! An idea for my next post! No stealing! Gives me something to strive for today...I will share Christ with at least one person today.
Have a Blessed day!
Hope you don't try to take away Eddo's Blackberries!
Have a great weekend.
Girl, you should get that printed on t-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers....
SHOW ME THE MISSION!
Awesome.
Preach it sister!
Amen!
There is nothing more important, nor more fulfilling than being on mission with God.
One of my biggest frustrations w/George is that he concerns himself w/that final $$ amount on the W2. And it's always "If I had this, I'd be happy" or "If I had that, I'd be happy". Whereas I'm content with what we have & it's enough.
I've tried to share with others what God has done in my life & in my marriage but I guess for some reason the ones I talk to are horribly stubborn! They want to experience the same things, but at the same time, they don't want to do the work. Sad really. However, I have a long way to go as I'm still searching for my purpose & that wonderful relationship w/God. But I'll get there!
PS: Show me the Mission is neat. And agree we need to get that out there.
I guess people haven't figured out they can't take it with them. The Pharoahs tried that, and we see how well it worked for them.
Show me the Mission...hmm...words to live by.
You can't take any of it with you, it does not count for God.
It's our works not our worth that matters to HIM
Seriously. I always remind myself that my sister never got to take a dollar with her when she passed. It really puts things into perspective for me.
Hi Dana :)
I love your blog very much too =D
Well done!
The love of money...(go ahead and fill in the rest)
This is good stuff - Show me the mission. Like you said there is nothing wrong with having stuff but I have noticed many people only get it to impress others. That's not right. If you want it fine. If you want it to show off to others ... wrong priority.
Ralph
I pretty much gave up on money several years ago. I've decided I'll never have as much as I want, and I always seem to have more than I really need. I have a roof over my head, a truck (old, could stand to be replaced) to drive, clothes on my back, and my belly stays fuller than it really needs to be. I'm growing into tithing (increasing my percentage every year, currently around 6%). So why would I bother obsessing over getting more?
That's a good point, Dana. I pray, I help others and I like to have fun as well. I try to stay balanced. It's what works for me these days.
Having no hope of ever making my first million, I've decided to give up and move on to my second million.
The mission always has been, is now and always will be the same.
good word!
Amen!
(Lord, forgive me for caring more about my comfort than the salvation of my neighbors.)
Right, Right, Right on... boogy down and get it on.
All of that "stuff" won't go thru the eye of the needle. What goes thru are the things we have done for the Lord. I think when we pray for a mission, the Lord will lead us to one. We all need to pray for more missions..Thanks for the post.
What a great post!
Bless you!
The world is passing away but the things we do in Christ will remain.
Let's do our mission girl! I'm going to see how long it takes you to figure out who this is.
I'd buy the, "Show me the Mission" T-shirt for sure!
Oh thank you!!! Thank you for sharing this.
I saw on someone's blog recently quoted and I can't remember where or WHO even said it, but it was this:
Americans with their big cars and huge houses and diamond rings and computers and gadgets are doing only one thing... showing that they are better than their neighbor... at being greedy.
SHOW ME THE MISSION!
