Take Time

Thursday, March 15, 2007

Perhaps you've seen the poster that pictures a dad and his 7 or 8 year old son in an old rowboat on a little lake. It's early in the morning, there's a faint mist still on the lake, and the father and son are sitting there, quiet and still. They're each holding little bamboo fishing poles, and the two corks attached to their lines are floating motionless on the placid water. Underneath the picture are two words: "TAKE TIME."
Can't you just picture the serenity of the moment? This next week, I am going to the lake with a fishing pole, no cell phone, and just sit out on the pier and enjoy the peace and quiet.
I have been so busy, I haven't even had time to blog, but that is going to change. I have been meeting myself coming and going. The Police Department is popping, I mean it has been ever so busy. I guess it's the change in weather. We can't get to all the calls fast enough. So this morning when I got off, I turned off my phone and went to bed, I wanted absolutely no interruptions and it was wonderful.
So my goal this week is to just stop and enjoy the moment. I intend to take off a few days and just relax. I am going to spend most of it on the lake. So I should have a moment or two to blog more often and refocus.

I know its important to take time and smell the roses and I miss the times my son and me at an early age went fishing many times! He is 37 years old now but I started over and enjoy my grandchildren, because everyone needs to start teaching the little ones at an early age? Enjoy your time off out in Gods creation! Its good medicine for the soul! Blessings. Ron.

Dana, I am so glad you get a couple of days to relax and regroup. We all need that from time to time. It seems like this time of year has been extremely busy for us as well. Have a great time!

Simple moments...it's what life's all about. It's important to recharge the batteries every now and then and simply relax. Enjoy your break.

I find that having those moments in time to get away and reflect on life and the Lord is such a fruitful time for me. I pray that you have a wonderful time as you refocus and take in God's creation.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for visiting. The kids were home and it was a great week. In heaven, God will show how He worked this week, how He is pulling together all things. May the Lord be with you and give you His great perspective! Like when David saw the Angel of the Lord and knew what was going on. May He give you a glimpse of what He is doing. Take care.

My church is having a big fishing trip soon and I'd love to go. The problem is that my ex-boyfriend (who remains a good friend) is currently in recovery (he's an ex drug-addict, if you recall) and he's now a new Christian. He wants to go with his buddy and I hate to get in the way of a male-bonding experience. *sigh*

I have not seen that poster but I sure could have it posted in my home. I keep having to remind myself to slow down. It a sad statement on todays society that we're always rushing.
