Truth Doesn't Change

Saturday, April 07, 2007

I am on a soapbox today because of a discussion I had with someone recently about truth. I believe truth remains unchanged because it is guaranteed by the character of God. God is truth and what He says is the last word. The person I was talking to was trying to tell me truth changes, I told them, then it wasn't truth to begin with.

In my limited understanding of God, I find I am unable to agree with majority opinion on alot of issues ... for that would be to disagree with God. I don't get into arguments because that is not my personality, but I do stand up for what I believe.

It seems to me in our world today, most people base their opinions on what everyone else is doing. I find this to be true when it comes to politics, right and wrong, good and evil, family, relationships, what our friends think and so on.

It's like everyone is seeking out someone who will agree with what they are doing, rather than wanting to know the truth and follow the truth. I know this has always been, but lately it seems it is infiltrating everything.

Who cares what the experts are saying or the latest study, or what the news reported, or what do my friends think? Those things can be altered to say what we want it to say to justify what we want to do. Science is not always factual, it is based on theory, but the God who created us has the truth, He has the answers, we should be seeking and asking Him and if He says don't do it, then we shouldn't. I believe in counseling, but Counselors are people, they are fallen, they sometimes insert their opinions, or are bent on their own assumptions or what they were taught. My question is......Is the person you are listening to seeking the one who is truth?

I don't know...but if you have an opinion please express it, lately I was even questioning myself.

Good post!
Jesus said:"I am the Truth, the Way and the Life".
The truth doesn't change, it's constant.

I think it's the "sheep"-mentallity to follow everyone else. But what herd do we follow? What shepperd do we choose to belong to? That depends on where we place our values. What is more important: To please ourselves, or to please Him? To be off this world, or in this world? To lay up treasures on earth, or in heaven? To live a short life on this earth, or to have everlasting life? :-)

A Happy and very blessed Easter to you and yours!
May the joy over God's great love and sacrifice be with you today and every day. :-)

God's Grace.

You shouldn't question yourself anymore. Truth is truth and nothing can change that. My Mom used to say truth will stand when the world is on fire..talking about the end of time.

Corry used a very good verse and it is appropriate yesterday, today and tomorrow and from tomorrow forward.

God's truth never changes! What He says is right and you have to wonder how so many other people can compromise the truth!

I agree...and I have done Christian "counseling" and you are so right...it is easy to insert our own ideas/wisdom....but we need to be seeking Christ and let the Holy Spirit then use us to speak God's truth.

Dana, You are right in saying that there are many who base their opinions on what everyone else is doing. They are using the wrong ruler. When we put ourselves up against Christ, we realize that we fall short of the standard. God's truth does not change. God looks on things the way he always has. Many try to warp God's truth by applying it the way they want to saying that God surely doesn't want me to be unhappy so this truth doesn't apply to me it applies to someone else. God does call us to be obedient. When we are obedient, he gives us joy. I experienced a similar situation where someone put their own spin on the truth and are now living with the consequences of their own actions. They are even more unhappy now, yet they try to put on the front of being happy. I have been praying for them. Thank you for this post. God bless you.

Ditto, Ditto...I agree with what you and everyone has posted thus far!!! His Word is the Truth and does not change...because HE is his Word and HE does not change. A wise person once said something to the effect that "our experiences should not determine our interpretation of "the truth" of God's Word, rather, we need to interpret the validity of our experiences based on the TRUTH of God's Word!" Be blessded my dear blogger friend!
