Interior Decorating

Friday, June 29, 2007

The last two days I had my grandson Aiden staying with me. He loves to come over and never wants to leave because he is always in the middle of a new project such as trying new ways of decorating my home.

He is only eighteen months old and has a gift with interior decorating. He goes through my entire house everytime he visits and rearranges everything. He wants to change the color of my floor, my walls and my cabinets. He likes things spread out to give the room more color. It has become quite obvious to me that he truly feels I need a major redesign of my home. He is full of ideas and always wants to try new things and new ways of rearranging, and his ideas are never dull or boring, he seems to have a way of bringing everything to life. It is as if he lights up the room with sunshine and laughter. I have been thinking this kid really knows his stuff. If I try to redo his decorating, he tells me no, no, no. I guess he feels I don't have the gift.

However most Interior Decorator's clean up their messes after they are through and put away their equipment. Not Aiden, so this week I politely gave him a broom and dust pan so he could do it his way. The raisins he decorated my floor with were beautiful, but I explained it was hard to walk through without messing them up, so he took the broom and pushed them under my table.

He seemed quite happy with that, but then tore his diaper off and climbed up to my table and decided to pee under it. I think he wanted me to move the table, so I did. I swept and mopped to his satisfaction, then he decided it was time to get my metabolism going, so he took off running, I followed breathing rather rapidly and after the catch, we wrestled. He wanted to wear his birthday suit, but I finally managed to convince him that his Nike outfit was much more appropriate for a little man such as himself.

This was just a very small bit of my two days with Aiden, he will be back to finish the decor next Friday! I am sure he will have some new ideas, I can't wait!!!

What a blessing grandchildren are! I have had my two for a couple of weeks now after a two week vacation from their last three week stay. They are five and two and I am too, too old. :)
But I love it---have fun with Aiden

Peace
Neva

Hi Donna,
I've had the joy of 5 of my grandkids first couple of weeks after school was out . After the 4th of july I will have them till school starts again?
I mowed my backyard teusday morning and you enjoy Him redecorating in house just wait till they redecorate your yard ? Two of these is 7 & 8 and I spent an hour putting things back in my boat and sheds?
I'm like neva just getting to old and wore out for all this extra work ?
Sounds like I'm complaining but I ain't , just bragging cause I get to enjoy them when they are little !

Blessings to ya'll .
Ron.

Your grandchild is adorable. I have 2 sons but they're 8 and 5 yrs. old. I don't have nearly as much fun as you guys in one day anymore! :)

I forgot how much "fun" kids are at that age. I love how you saw everything through his little eyes. It helps to see the humor in what they do! He will grow up before you know it. Enjoy him!

Sounds like you're having fun! Isn't it good, though, that God gives toddlers to people in their 20's and 30's? I don't think I'd have the energy to keep up now!

Grandkids are such a blessing!

Sounds like he already knows what he wants to be when he grows up.
That is so cute!

God's Grace.
