Love- It Ain't Always Easy to Do!
Sunday, June 24, 2007
In his book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis wrote, "Do not waste your time bothering whether you 'love' your neighbor act as if you did. As soon as we do this, we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love him. If you injure someone you dislike, you will find yourself disliking him more. If you do him a good turn, you will find yourself disliking him less."
Today I am going to love that person at my job who is always there like a thorn in my flesh. I don't really want to do it, but after I read this I have to take action. I usually have nothing whatsoever to do with them because I am not sure why they don't like me to begin with, but actually it's not really me, she doesn't like anyone that I know of.
I do know when we meditate on what we don't like about a person, it truly does make us like them even less. So today I am going to love on purpose!

GOOD FOR YOU and THX for reminding me of that C.S. Lewis quote. GREAT post! :-)))
Let me know how that works out for ya.
Amen! I have been trying to do that as well. I am trying to see the good in everyone I run into contact with. Instead of dwelling on that little statement someone might say to me.
Perfect. One person came to mind when I read this. I will see her at work and I'll remember this post. Thanks for stepping up to the plate.
By the way, I had to shut my other blog...long story. If you want to visit, I'm at "Another Day in Paradise."
I plan to read The Message Bible and comment on it as often as possible. That's my goal.
What a great post! Love is a choice and too often we choose bad thoughts, biting sarcasm and ugly talk. Thanks for this reminder.
Hope your weekend was amazing.
Peace
Neva
Hmmmm. This is close to home (no pun intended in relation to "neighbor"). CS Lewis makes a good point, however, I really do find that the less I have to do with some people the better. That's NOT to say I won't be cordial. There's something to be said for instincts, too - they are a God given gift. I sure compliment you on re-thinking how you're dealing with that "Thorn" though. God bless. ;)
loving on purpose IS a choice-but remember jesus himself stayed away from some on purpose...
Love, hope and faith and the greatest of these is love!
God's Grace.
Dana I call them situations " beezle bugs " ! That is a situation where " Satan " takes advantages of weak spirits and uses it to try to spoil a strong spirit sometimes making you wonder if it is worth it all !
Blessings.
Ron.
It's not YOU they don't like,it's themselves they don't like. They see the godlyness in you and they wish they were you.
amen
good words
Thanks Amel CS Lewis is quite a writer!
Leann, great to see you around again, hope the new job is going well
Lori, I have to remind myself that His ways are not my ways and His thoughts are not my thoughts, I am striving to be like Him.
Scarlet, oh yes we all have one at work and now my new manager is trying to micro manage us, yikes, it's getting to me!!!
