Frustration
Monday, September 17, 2007
I am frustrated. I am not exactly sure why. I guess too many things are going on at one time right now. Things are good, except one of the boys we have with us now is beginning to .... I am not sure if I want to say talk back, mouth off, or just plain get smart when he is asked to do something.
I guess we will drug test him this week and make sure there is nothing to worry about there. It could be that he is frustrated too. We are taking him to GED classes after he gets off work and he is not really happy about it. He wants his GED, but doesn't want to do anything to get it. We put him in classes once before and he would get out of his seat and try to help everyone else, therefore he wasn't learning anything.
I know he has some learning disabilities but he reads exceptionally well. All he wants to do is ride his bicycle, play basketball and watch movies. He is nineteen and has been told by his family in San Antonio that he can never come home, that he can visit but can never move back.
He works really hard and has been promoted at work and received two raises in six months, he usually is very easy to get along with, but has to be sat down every so often to keep him on track. Anyway, I have been praying for him and asking God to help us have wisdom in helping him. So if you would, pray for Nathan and pray for us to have wisdom, because I am beginning to get frustrated and I am sure the Lord has probably had His share of frustration with me.

Hi Dana,
I can imagine the frustration you are having and I will say that a few years ago I let a young man 20 yrs old live with me because he didn't have anywhere else to go ? You couldn't have asked him to corporate any more ?
He had a good job and I made him pay his part of the bills I had ! [ lights-telephone-groceries-] by the week ? What his problem was he got to where he was over confident and then he started to slipping more and more ?
In spite of me constantly instructing him about failures he stilled ignored me ? I kept praying about it but he got into trouble in Albany Ga. and had to serve another year , but when he got out He came to see me and apoligized and said He was sorry ! I asked him if He wanted to move back in and he said no he would get his own place because he didn't want me to go thru that anymore ?
I talked to him 4 years later and He finally said thank you for trying to instruct him in his life because part of it stuck with him ? He got married after that and He and his family are attending church faithfully ? Didn't mean to ramble so much! I guess what I'm trying to say is don't give up hope, but stand firm in your convictions ?
Blessings.
Ron.
It sounds like he is feeling pretty comfortable with his situation. Does he help you with your bills, does he pay any rent to you. I sometimes wonder if kids just don't want to grow up.
Maybe he is thinking that if he gets his GED, then he will have to do something with it. My husbands brother came very close to getting his degree and then he quit school. Years later he decided to finish his education and go out and work to support his family.
I think some kids take longer to grow up and accept responsibility. Hang in there lady and just keep praying for guidance.
You are awesome and amazing and you are doing such an important thing. You are an inspiration. I will be praying for you all.
Hopefully you will find out that he's not on drugs and he's just going through a hard time once you set him down to talk to him. Will be praying for you and your family and Nathan. Keep up the good work! God keeps good records!
It is difficult to help a young person who has learning disabilities. My son has ADD and it was a challenge. He ended up getting his GED, but unfortunately self medicated himself with Meth, nicotine, and caffeine. He's down to the nicotine and caffeine. I'll take that over the Meth.
Good luck with your challenge.
Blessings
Leann
I am praying for all of you folks. It was really hard for Rob and me to begin drug testing out niece when she lived with us... but it keeps the honest honest.
checking on you...hope things are better
Sister Dana,
Surely! the Lord is not frustrated with you!
The scripture says "Therefore there is NOW NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1 [NASB] Amen?!
We all make mistakes but Jesus came to set us Free from all the bondages! "For the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God Did: sending His Own Son in...." Romans 8:2-3 [NASB]
In name of Jesus Christ, break all bondages from Sister Dana & her family! Amen?! When two or more agree, it shall be done on Earth as it is in Heaven!
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him for us all, how will He NOT also with Him FREELY give us all things?" Romans 8:32
Sister, We have Wisdom, Health, Prosperity, wholeness, favor, blessings, when Jesus cried out, "IT IS FINISHED!"
Just pray & receive! [I will pray in line with you!" Sorry, can't blog much, maybe once a month.Visit my blog when you are free, did an entry called, "Now":-)
praying for Nathan, it must be hard for all concerned.
