Interior Decorating

Friday, June 29, 2007

The last two days I had my grandson Aiden staying with me. He loves to come over and never wants to leave because he is always in the middle of a new project such as trying new ways of decorating my home.

He is only eighteen months old and has a gift with interior decorating. He goes through my entire house everytime he visits and rearranges everything. He wants to change the color of my floor, my walls and my cabinets. He likes things spread out to give the room more color. It has become quite obvious to me that he truly feels I need a major redesign of my home. He is full of ideas and always wants to try new things and new ways of rearranging, and his ideas are never dull or boring, he seems to have a way of bringing everything to life. It is as if he lights up the room with sunshine and laughter. I have been thinking this kid really knows his stuff. If I try to redo his decorating, he tells me no, no, no. I guess he feels I don't have the gift.

However most Interior Decorator's clean up their messes after they are through and put away their equipment. Not Aiden, so this week I politely gave him a broom and dust pan so he could do it his way. The raisins he decorated my floor with were beautiful, but I explained it was hard to walk through without messing them up, so he took the broom and pushed them under my table.

He seemed quite happy with that, but then tore his diaper off and climbed up to my table and decided to pee under it. I think he wanted me to move the table, so I did. I swept and mopped to his satisfaction, then he decided it was time to get my metabolism going, so he took off running, I followed breathing rather rapidly and after the catch, we wrestled. He wanted to wear his birthday suit, but I finally managed to convince him that his Nike outfit was much more appropriate for a little man such as himself.

This was just a very small bit of my two days with Aiden, he will be back to finish the decor next Friday! I am sure he will have some new ideas, I can't wait!!!

Love- It Ain't Always Easy to Do!

Sunday, June 24, 2007

In his book Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis wrote, "Do not waste your time bothering whether you 'love' your neighbor act as if you did. As soon as we do this, we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love him. If you injure someone you dislike, you will find yourself disliking him more. If you do him a good turn, you will find yourself disliking him less."

Today I am going to love that person at my job who is always there like a thorn in my flesh. I don't really want to do it, but after I read this I have to take action. I usually have nothing whatsoever to do with them because I am not sure why they don't like me to begin with, but actually it's not really me, she doesn't like anyone that I know of.

I do know when we meditate on what we don't like about a person, it truly does make us like them even less. So today I am going to love on purpose!

False Accusation!!

John was driving home late one night when he picked up a hitchhiker. As they rode along, he began to be suspicious of his passenger. John checked to see if his wallet was safe in the pocket of his coat that was on the seat between them, but it wasn't there! So he slammed on the brakes, ordered the hitchhiker out, and said, "Hand over the wallet immediately!" The frightened hitchhiker handed over a billfold, and John drove off. When he arrived home, he started to tell his wife about the experience, but she interrupted him, saying, "Before I forget, John, do you know that you left your wallet at home this morning?"

Going To The Chapel

I am back and here is what is going on. We still have three teenagers living with us from the boys Ranch. One of them is planning to move out and get married, he is 19. He is a youth leader at our church and has met a wonderful girl at college. His dad is going to prison for fifteen years in October and his mother got out of prison a year ago, both for drugs.
So this is why he is with us, he wants to live a different life, he rarely knows where either of his parents are, they only call when they are in trouble. He is going to college and working and he is going to Mexico next month on a Mission trip.
So now we are planning a wedding and we will meet his parents for the first time if they show up. I have talked to them on the phone once but that is about it. So ....Sept 1st is the wedding day, I will post some pictures so ck back and see what is happening next.

I'm Back!!!

Friday, June 15, 2007

I have been busy, busy, busy, but now I can take a few minutes and catch everyone up on what is going on......

We found out this week my husband has prostate cancer. The good in that is that it was caught by a blood test in the early stages and it is only on one side and it is treatable. So thank you Jesus.

So this is what I have been doing since we found out there might be a possible problem. Number one is praying, then I have gone on days at the Police department so that is good. I then have been getting things organized and garages cleaned out and am getting ready to do whatever I need to do.

Two of the kids we have living with us are moving in two months on their own so that is good and so we will have one boy. My mom is doing okay and is in good spirits, so that is good.

Anyway, things are going great so far, just send up a prayer for us if you will and I know God is able to do abundantly above all we could ask or think...so I am not worried, I am confident.

Take care, hugs and God Bless all of you.

I Can't Stop Laughing!

Monday, June 04, 2007

You don't stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing. — Michael Pritchard
This week I have been training a new officer and we have had so much fun. We have so much in common, I love to laugh and have a good time when I am working or whatever I am doing. Sometimes I even laugh to keep from crying and sometimes I laugh so hard I cry. Sometimes the things that happen on my shift are so ridiculous that I can't keep from laughing.
Anyway, last night and the night before, we had some down time so I was telling her this funny story and she started laughing. Well, when someone starts laughing til they are crying it gets me to laughing and I can't tell my story, so we are both laughing so hard, my stomach was hurting so bad. I just wanted to stop laughing. It was great!
The bible says, " A merry heart doeth Good like a medicine. " Proverbs 17:22
So today I hope all of you have a good laugh, it sure felt good!!

It's Not All About Me!

Sunday, June 03, 2007

It's easy to get caught up in thinking it is about us. I listen everyday to people who are telling me about themselves. Someone parked in front of MY house, someone is walking on MY property, Someone said this to ME, I want them out of MY house.

I am even guilty! I think to myself WHY is this happening to ME? Why is MY mother sick? Why is MY child straying from the truth? Why, why, why? The world does not revolve around me, I should be making an impact, but instead I let things impact me!!

Where’s the evidence that the blind receive sight, the poor hear good news, the oppressed are liberated? Where? Show me!!!! People are going to bed hungry, children are being mistreated, there are people who can’t find a decent place to live, violence continues in the Middle East, how can I believe the promise of Jesus is being fulfilled?

The promise of Jesus is fulfilled when I remember that it isn’t all about ME! --- I am not here to receive the blessings of God without responsibility. The good news will be preached to the poor when I preach it. Freedom will be proclaimed to the prisoners when I proclaim it. Recovery of sight and release of the oppressed will only come through us.

It isn’t about ME! It is about what I am called by God to do for and with others! It is about trusting Him, He is allowing things to happen in our lives to work out His purpose in our lives for our good. So Please Lord,...help me to remember it isn't all about ME...................
