What Are You Looking For?
Thursday, February 07, 2008
Both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over our nation's deserts. All vultures see is rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet. But hummingbirds ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants. The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone. But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and life. Each bird finds what it is looking for. We all do.

Hi Dana,
I like the way you compared the two and a lot of people get dragged into the path of the vultures .
As for the hummingbirds They are sweet and looking for pure food God created ! I sit on my porch in the summertime and watch them fly by me heading to the feeder as if they know I wouldn't harm them ?
Blessings.

What a great thought. I will remember that, especially on those days when I am tempted to "feed" on the past.
A great lesson is very few words. It what my heart has been focusing on lately - not to let my spirit feed on what was, but to look the sweet days ahead.
WOW!! Very creative, wonderful and so true! :o)
How clever you are Dana! I'll use that with a children's talk one of these days.
I photographed 2 hummingbirds while in North Am in 2006 - one on Vancouver Island and one in Nova Scotia.
Ask, seek and knock, huh. :-)
I hope you are doing well.
God's Grace.
Hi Dana,
You ask what I'm looking for >> I'm looking for another good post to read. I hope every thing is going ok ?
Blessings.

How I love sitting on my front porch swing on warmer days and waiting for the humming bird to find my feeder. They are so beautiful.
Lori
Good analogies! ;o) I'll pass on the vulture's feast, thank you...
